For example, Daily Celebrity Crossword has a different theme each day, such as TV Tuesday and Sports Fan Friday, and that gives me a starting place for brainstorming what the puzzle should be about. "Most of the time, I have a theme to begin with, or at least an area. I can usually complete a simple puzzle in a matter of hours, whereas a medium or hard puzzle could take a day or two." 'Writer's block could sometimes be an issue' I've had puzzles take me mere hours to create I've had others take weeks. "How long a puzzle takes to create depends on a lot of things - the size, difficulty level, whether there are any particular constraints, and so on. In a harder puzzle, you want those ambiguities, and you also want to throw in some wordplay to keep solvers a little bit off-balance. In an easy puzzle, the goal is to make clues without multiple possible answers (a 5-letter word for 'Fast' might be 'RAPID or 'QUICK' or 'HASTY' or several other things). After the grid is done, then it's time to clue. "Difficulty level should come from the cluing, not the words in the puzzle. ![]() Sometimes, as with the Daily Celebrity Crossword, you want everything to be solvable even by someone who has never solved a crossword before other times you can have the vocabulary be a little more difficult, but you never want it to be truly obscure. "The goal is to have every word in the grid be something that the solver will recognize. This is not always easy - you want to make sure that you don't have too many places that will be tricky to fill in later, or where you'd have to resort to hard words to fill it in." 'The next step is filling in the rest of the grid' ![]() "After the puzzlemaker places the theme entries into a grid, they then decide where the rest of the black squares should go. "The first thing that a puzzlemaker has to do is come up with theme answers that will fit properly in the grid, since all crossword grids have symmetrical patterns. ![]() "Puzzles typically begin with the 'theme' - the thing that the longest answers in the puzzle have in common. 'Here's how the puzzlemaking process works. ![]() The main advantage of the US fin box, however, is that there is a wide range of available fins for this fin system. With Smart-Lock fins, there is only one fixed position for the fin. The following applies: the further back the fin is, the better the straight-line stability. The small advantage of the US fin box system is that the position of the fin in the fin box can be freely selected. Here, the attachment takes less than five seconds. Installing the fin takes about 30 to 45 seconds – with a little practice – which is more than the Smart-Lock fin system. fin box system, the fin is attached to the rail with a screw and threaded plate. Unlike the normal Bluefin Sprint, the center fin uses the US fin box system and only the side fins use Bluefin’s proprietary Smart-Lock system, which only a few other manufacturers like Thurso Surf and iRocker use. With the Bluefin Sprint Carbon, the British brand relies on a 2+1 fin setup with one large center fin and two smaller side fins. A dual-chamber design has two advantages: safety and more stiffness, which makes for better riding characteristics. The Bluefin Sprint Carbon features two separate air chambers. With its dimensions it is fully within the standard range of the board class and provides together with the streamlined shape for fast gliding pleasure. The Bluefin Sprint Carbon is a 14′ race paddle board. The Bluefin Sprint Carbon variant differs from the normal Bluefin Sprint by the additional carbon layer on the rails (sides) and the double-chamber construction with the two separate air chambers, both of which provide even more stiffness, a more extensive scope of delivery, the upgraded accessories and the US fin box system of the center fin.įor performance maximizers looking for an inflatable board with the stiffness of a hardboard and rarely transporting the board or doing so mostly while inflated, the Bluefin Sprint Carbon is the top choice. ![]() Length and reduced width basically lead to improved gliding behavior – but also to slightly less tipping stability. With its dimensions of 14′ x 30” x 6” (426.5 x 77 x 16 cm), the board is designed to cover long distances at sporty speeds. The narrow, streamlined outline with pronounced board tip seems made to glide effortlessly through the water and meets all the requirements of the classic race board. Short on Time? Surface Mounted LED Underwater Boat Light Product description Bluefin led Piranha P24 I would suggest maybe jacking the truck, or letting the air out of the rear tires to get some lean angle if that is all you need and you think it would solve the problem. But the trailer hinges and is so steep when sloped that getting the bike into the chock (going up hill) was more trouble than getting it out. I used it to haul my ST from Atlanta to Northern Indiana only a week ago. I actually just bought one of these and the $300 48"x96" trailer they sell. That may be the difference between the designs. Actually getting it rolled back over the chock isn't really that difficult. The biggest issue is that the front tire actually wedges into the chock, so breaking the initial grip is most of the chore. The chock I used wasn't the Harbor Freight one. You would think I would be able to easily rock the ST back, but it wasn't going anywhere. Both times involved having the kickstand down on the bike, my wife at the rear pulling, and me grabbing the front tire and rolling it out of the chock, while keeping it balanced while standing in front of the bike. I had to unload the bike twice- once when I unloaded it for a test ride on a non-ice covered road and the 2nd when I got home. "small bump"? I compare it to trying to roll a bike back that I forgot to remove the tie-down straps from! When I bought my ST I borrowed a trailer that had a chock. Re: How do you unload an S1300 from a Haul-Master (Harbor Freight) Motorcycle Wheel C I'm reluctant to mount the motorcycle back into the chock without a better plan in place since I believe I was lucky to get the bike unloaded without damage to me or my body (and pride) the last time. I can't imagine that lowering the bolt that small amount is going to make it signficantly easier to unload. The chock was assembled at the factory with the pivot bolt in the middle of three holes. There appears to be only one adjustment to be made to the chock which involves lowering the pivot bolt one hole lower (about 1"). The written instructions are thorough, but of course neglect any mention of unloading the bike out of the chock. I'm not sure that they even know what a hill is up there. My problem is that the next time I unload the cycle it will be in the flatlands of Ontario. Of course I then had the thrill of trying to slow the cycle as it rolled backwards down the aluminum ramp. I finally backed the trailer to a hill on our driveway and was finally, (with great effort) able to get the front wheel out of the chock. In spite of how hard I tugged and kicked back, I was unable to get the front wheel out of the chock. The problem surfaced when I attempted to unload the motorcycle on level ground. Sure enough, it is easy to load into the chock mounted to the floor of a utility trailer and it seems to be pretty secure, even when bouncing down our West Virginia roads. I purchased the chock after reading on this forum that the chock was suitable for securing an ST1300 in a pickup truck bed or utility trailer. I hope somebody has a tip that will enable me to unload an ST1300 from a Haul-Master (cheapest Harbor Freight) Motorcycle Wheel Chock. ![]() In short, the court found that “Hyatt adopted an approach to prosecution that all but guaranteed indefinite prosecution delay.” Similarly, the other court found that PMC engaged in some of the same conduct as Hyatt, filing multiple applications that essentially duplicated earlier applications and made an inordinate number of claims, and delaying prosecution of claims for several years. In fact, the PTO estimated that it would take over 500 years of examiner time to process all of his applications. His applications overwhelmed the PTO, with many of his claims being repetitious and redundant. His applications claimed priority to applications filed in the early 1970s and 1980s, which means he delayed prosecution of his claims from 12 to 28 years. In Hyatt’s case, his 381 applications averaged about 300 claims each. In both cases, the courts found ample evidence to establish prosecution laches. When proven, prosecution laches may render a patent unenforceable. Prosecution laches requires a showing that applicant delayed prosecuting the patent in an unreasonable and inexcusable way, and that the accused infringer suffered prejudice as a result of the delay. In the two cases cited above, both of which involve these patentees, the courts found that the equitable remedy of prosecution laches applied and relied on that doctrine in ruling against Hyatt and PMC. This places them among the most prolific filers of that period. Hyatt and PMC filed over 700 patent applications in the nine days before the effective date of the GATT. 5, 2021), involved a challenge to a nine-figure jury verdict obtained by Personalized Media Communications (“PMC”) against Apple for patent infringement. The second case, Personalized Media Communications, LLC v. 2021), decided by the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, involved a challenge by Gilbert Hyatt to the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (“PTO”) rejection of four of his patent applications. Two Recent Cases May Significantly Curtail Their Ability to Succeed In fact, more than 26 years after the GATT went into effect, two of the patentees who sought to take advantage of the old law by filing applications before the deadline are still litigating those claims. The influx of patent applications filed in the months before the GATT went into effect showed that some patentees were eager to enjoy the benefits of the old law while they still could. This process led to so-called “submarine patents,” which allow patentees to incorporate industry advances into their continuing applications, specifically target competitors’ new products, and generally increase the patent’s value. ![]() Under the old law, patentees could delay the issuance of the patent-and thus the beginning of the 17-year period-by abandoning patent applications and filing continuing applications in their place. Although the new law was passed in late 1994, it did not go into effect until June 8, 1995, and it only applied to patent applications filed on or after that date. In December 1994, Congress passed a law enacting the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (“GATT”), extending the timespan of the protection offered by patents from 17 years after it was issued to 20 years, but it keyed the start time to the filing of the patent application rather than the issuance of the patent.
